At Cornerstone Optometry, we care about protecting the vision of our patients. As optometrists, we also care about people around the world who lack access to quality vision care. There are more than 1.2 billion people in the world who are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to an eye exam or glasses. Because of this, Cornerstone Optometry is participating in the World Sight Day Challenge! by donating $5.00 for every pair of glasses sold in the month of October.
Now in its 12th year, the World Sight Day Challenge is the largest annual global fundraising campaign to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and glasses. The campaign is run by global charity, Optometry Giving Sight. To date, Optometry Giving Sight has disbursed funding from donors and sponsors to 117 projects in 39 countries.
Preventable blindness is a solvable problem and we are proud to help give better vision to those in need. Most people are inspired to learn that as little as $5 can help give an eye exam and a pair of glasses to someone living in an underserved community to transform their lives. Everyone can make a huge difference and we are thrilled to be contributing to Optometry Giving Sight.
We’d love our patients to get their eyes tested during the Challenge to help raise awareness and funds for this great cause. The campaign’s goal is to raise $1 million globally in 2018. We are thrilled to be contributing towards this goal and invite you to join us in making a donation at our office or at www.givingsight.org
