Working for long periods on the computer can produce eye strain, blurry vision, red eyes, and other symptoms. For the under 40 age group, maintaining sharp focus can be a challenge when eyes have to constantly focus back and forth from the keyboard and screen. For those over 40, the normal deterioration in near focusing ability (presbyopia) is often associated with computer vision syndrome. Even if you don't need prescription eyewear for everyday tasks outside of the office, customized computer glasses or "office lenses" can reduce eye strain. Have a comprehensive eye exam and talk to your optometrist about maintaining comfortable computer vision. Don't forget to ask about anti-glare coatings and specialized tints that enhance contrast. Until then, here are three tips from our friends at Seiko on how to minimize Digital Eye Strain.
